Reg. 194
FLAT PLATES
Flat plates supported by stays and nuts and large washers
or strips or doublings
| a) |
Where the plates are supported
by stays passing through them and are fitted with nuts
inside and washers and nuts outside, the diameter of the
washers being at least 3 ½ times that of the stay
and their thickness at least two-thirds, that of the plate,
but not greater than that of the plate, the maximum working
pressure shall be : -
| W. P. = |
100 |
[ ( t - 1 )2 + .15
t12 ] |
Eqn.(29) |
| A2 +
B2 |
|
| b) |
where the washers have a diameter
of at least two-thirds of the pitch of the stays and a
thickness of at least two-thirds of the thickness of the
plate, but not greater that that of the plate, and are
riveted to the plate in an efficient manner, the, maximum
working pressure shall be : -
| W. P. = |
100 |
[ ( t
1 )2 + .35 t12 ] |
Eqn.(30) |
| A2 +
B2 |
|
| c) |
Where the plate is stiffened
by strips at least two thirds of the pitch of the stays
in breadth which have a thickness of at least two-thirds
of that of the plate but not greater than that of the
plate, and are riveted to the plate in an efficient manner,
the maximum working pressure shall be : -
| W. P. = |
100 |
[ ( t - 1 )2 + .55
t12 ] |
Eqn.(31) |
| A2 +
B2 |
|
| d) |
Where the plates are fitted
with doubling plates having a thickness of at least two-thirds
of that of the plate but not greater that that of the
plate, and are riveted to them in an efficient manner,
the maximum working pressure shall be : -
| W. P. = |
100 |
[ ( t - 1 )2 + .85
t12 ) ] |
